Excellent All-in-one Amplifier for Normal Home Use

Date of Review:  Feb 6, 2003
The Bottom Line: Near the best for that price!
Review: I bought this unit after various testings at shops for months (previously tested the 3802 also). Many peoples said that Denons are not musical enough for music but I disagree. I would say Denons are obviously more powerful and produced sound appears...

A partial review

Date of Review:  Dec 31, 2002
The Bottom Line: A solid receiver with many features, marred only by a very sensitive and choosy video up-conversion circuit and obtrusive on-screen displays.
Review: Most of the reviews for the Denon 3802 (note: -02) pretty well apply to the 3803, and what's more, my speakers are so, um, modest? that I can't comment fairly on its audio qualities. So this is a short review concentrating on the 3803's video...

3803 is a fine example of a Home Theater receiver

Date of Review:  Aug 24, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you're thinking of delving into Home Theater - or upgrading an older system, debut the AVR-3803 for a full-processing experience. You won't be disappointed.
Review: Having owned a Denon AVR-3200 for about 5 years, I knew that when I upgraded, it would have to be a new mid-level Denon. I also considered the Onkyo 800, but ultimately the Denon won. There's nothing wrong with the Onkyo; I simply liked the previous...

A Black Box of Pure Power

Date of Review:  Nov 2, 2003
The Bottom Line: The receiver to consider if you are a person that looks to the future and do not want to make another purchase of this sort before the next 5-7 years.
Review: Denon really broke the mold on this receiver. It is very possible that they overdid it. Denon is known for quite a few subtle, yet positive moves when it comes to A/V receivers. First of all, they never leak any information on what new and improved...

Denon AVR-3803 A/V Surround Receiver

Date of Review:  Apr 13, 2003
The Bottom Line: If you can afford it, and you have any electronics "common sense", don't worry about the slightly cumbersome set-up and just buy this receiver.
Review: If you are looking at this review you are obviously serious about home audio/video. You already know the standard pros and cons everyone gives for this receiver. You don't need me to go into pages of detail about everything you have already heard...

Initial Impressions

Date of Review:  Dec 5, 2003
The Bottom Line: Best $1k you will spend for home theater AVR. Sufficiently future expandable with 100 mhz component in bandwith and 7.1 input. Excellent sound reproduction and video-upconvert.
Review: I recently purchased AVR3803 from Goodguys after very extensive examination of different AV receivers, including Onkyo, Sony, and Yamaha. The 3803 is an upgrade from my Denon 3300 and Sony 925.

Present components include:

Boston...

Whoa!

Date of Review:  Nov 1, 2003
The Bottom Line: Buy it. Worth every penny. 2 months ago this was a $1200 unit, now it's only $900 (goodguys.com).
Review: I just finished installing my new (not refurb'd) Denon AVR-3803. Impressive. Yes, it is true. Setting it all up is sort of a pain. However, with patience and actually using the manual provided, it's not that difficult. I also recommend finding some...

The receiver for the ones with EARS!

Date of Review:  Jan 10, 2003
The Bottom Line: Buy it and you will fell like you really OWN a theater. Make sure you have some good quality speakers and sit back and relax!
Review: I just purchased my 3803. This was because I owned a Pioneer VSX-D811S and bought new Definitive Technology Speakers (pair of 2002's, 2004's & 2006's and a CLR 2500) and it could not drive the speakers without overloading. I considered buying a...

Denon AVR 3803

Date of Review:  Mar 12, 2003
The Bottom Line: The Denon sounded incredibile on music sources. The Denon manual is a joke. Denon technical support is a joke
Review: I did a side by side sound testing of the Denon AVR 3803 and the Onkyo TX SR 800 for 30 days.

Music

The Denon sounded incredibile on music sources. The sound stage was wide and apparent. I have never heard music sound so good...
