I can't Deni the fact that this machine is almost useless
Pros:
It can make a hell out of a sorbet!
Cons:
Can only pour one cup of mixture in order for it to freeze properly.
The Bottom Line:
The bottom line? Save your money. You can make your own ice cream from scratch, but if you like soft-serve, then seek out your local Mr. Softee.

Author's Review
My mom bought this machine as a surprise for me. I appreciate her attempt.
Anywho, I got to work. First, it took me a while to figure out how to put the machine together, the assembly portion in the manual was so unclear that I missed it. It was in a smaller box, in the corner of the page. WTF? But thankfully, MissCancemini is working with a bit of common sense! I wouldn't have even been able to get my feet wet otherwise.
As I continued reading, I found out that the Canister (what the mixture is supposed to churn in) is supposed to be completely frozen beforehand. Great. No ice cream tonight. Thanks a lot, Deni. I found a great recipe, however, in the manual (it included 30 great dairy and non-dairy recipes) and got all the ingredients and made it that night so I can turn it into soft-serve (argh! a soft-serve machine!) ice cream the next day. But it wasn't to be. According to the manual, you're supposed to let it churn for 10-20 minutes, but all I got was a vanilla-y smoothie. And I let this bad boy churn for at least 30 minutes, but to no avail. So I put it in a container and stored it in the freezer. And that's how I got my ice cream, people! Not because of that blasted machine!
I didn't give up hope though; I made a mango sorbet the other day, and it was all right. The key is, to add small amounts at a time. I added the whole ice cream mixture in the canister (a whole quart), so it couldn't freeze. Maybe I don't have as much common sense as I thought. Eh.
But overall, I'm not too impressed with the 5530. Hell, I wound up making my own ice cream, and it wasn't soft-serve! So take that, Deni! I might just sell the machine on eBay, I have to think it over. It doesn't serve much purpose really, just another appliance that I don't use. You don't have to waste your money on it if you can help it.
That is all.
