DeLonghi D895UX Cool Touch Roto Deep Fryer

Normally, I am on a fried food ban...I hate feeling sluggish and unhealthy, but after trying french fries at one of my friends home with the DeLonghi Cool Touch Roto Deep Fryer, I decided to buy one of my own! My kids love fried food, but I do everything I can to keep it out of my home.

We use very light olive oil in this fryer, which is much better than the old Fry Daddy I once had. It only requires half the oil and the frying temperature raises so quickly that the food itself does not marinade in it for long. Depending on what you are cooking and how long you cook for depends on the time needed. Usually under 10 minutes and sometimes as fast as a few minutes. We use this for french fries, mozzarella sticks, hot wings, battered mushrooms and zucchini. It has a motorized basket that lowers in the top opening fryer, and it rotates to make sure nothing sticks to the walls and explodes! A light will go off when your food is ready.

The temperature is about 300 - 375 F, and only takes a few moments to heat up before it is ready. There are nine different temp settings so that you are not dealing with a black and white option. You can only put in about a pound and a half of food at one time, so if you are used to having huge parties, you may want something bigger. There is little to no splattering of hot oil. It has a drain system that has filters and allows you to recycle oil, but I do not do that, for sanitary reasons, so I can not describe the usage of that feature. Personally, I think that is gross, so I do not encourage you to use it either. It is 14 3/4" wide X 12" deep X 9 1/2" in height. It takes up a little room, but not much, and it stays cool to the touch, thus, the name!

How does the food taste? Very crispy, clean and you do not have the soggy, oil-taste that most fried food has. It has a window that allows you to watch the food even when the lid is closed, so there is no risk of it soaking for too long! The food has always been evenly cooked for us, and we can use this with minimal mess. It is easy to clean, average for the product that it is! It does not emit oil smells into your home, which is one reason I love it, because I can't even get that with my Wok! For taste, texture, and health, you can't go wrong with this model!
