We Make our OWN Tortillas chips!

Okay...so no biggie...but it is fun to make a batch of fresh tortilla chips now. In fact....deep frying anything is a piece of cake. Donuts, burritos, chicken, french fries and more....we have cooked them all in the Delonghi Deep Fryer.

The model I have is slightly different than this one but looks like this one. Mine is called the Delonghi D690 Deluxe Cool Touch Fryer.

I placed the order for this model with Amazon.com, using both a coupon and a free shipping promotion. Total cost to me was zero....but would have been a still affordable $99.99.

The Delonghi brand of small appliances already are number one with me as they are one of the brands I have had NO trouble with whatsoever. They also are true to "What it can do" advertising.

The fryer is white and attractive on a counter-top unlike the older black models of prior years. The lid remains closed and handle down.....and oil in it....so it is always neat and clean looking as well as "standing at attention"....ready to go.

There is no assembly required. Simply remove from packing carton and fill to the "line" with your desired cooking oil. Be sure to take the basket out before you fill with oil. The only reason I say this is that you can see the line more easily. We use peanut oil as it tastes the best and foods come out crispy but not greasy and it is also what Delonghi suggests.

The handle which lays flat against the body while the basket is down is pulled out toward you to raise the basket from the oil and also is the handle one uses to raise the basket from the track to empty its contents.

be sure not to overfill....as you can cause injury to yourself or cause an overflow. Also, and of course this goes without saying...DO NOT USE THE FRYER WITHOUT OIL IN IT!!

This model has a 2.2 pound capacity...which may or may not be completely so....but I haven't weighed my "contents". I say I can fry two chicken legs, two wings and half a breast all at the same time.

It has an easy oil draining system. The compartment and hose opens from the "bottom" of the fryer and can be drained this way. There is also a long plastic tool that comes with it to push through any small pieces that may become lodged in the tube.


The easy to understand instructions teach the process of heating oil to the correct temperature, adding your items with the basket UP, closing the lid, then lowering the frying basket into the oil as the lid remains closed. This means that all the odors are kept inside the fryer and there is no "splattering"

A built-in digital timer times the cooking or can be pre-set. The viewing window is supposed to let you check on the food while it's cooking but it is small and becomes fogged up easily so opening the top for a peek is just as easy for me although it is not advised. Safety is built in since the sides of the fryer remain cool to the touch. There is a chance of steam burns if you're not careful though so keep your hands away from the vents once the food is lowered.

All in all this is a great machine...I love it and it is well worth the price.
