Just before the end of July, my husband and I made our usual summer trip north to visit family and friend but especially the kids. Boy we sure miss them! Out of four, we only have one living in Florida. Oh well, that’s another story.
Our son Ken and his lovely wife, Joanne, surprised us with an early Anniversary gift and we looked forward to much getting home and putting it to use.
However, we arrived home on August 2, got busy catching up with mail, lawn care, laundry, etc., we put off using our new gift for awhile. Then Charley hit! Our gift would just have to wait.
My daughter-in-law knows me very well. When I’m cooking for company, it’s no-hold-barred and elegant. When I cook for just Rich and myself, it’s a fast, down and dirty, throw-‘em together kind of meal. That’s why, when I opened our gift, I was delighted to say the least.
JoJo and Ken got us a
DELONGHI INDOOR GRILL. Wow! I mean, this thing rocks! It would take a whole dictionary to explain just how awesome this gift really is but I promise to try and make it short and sweet – well, sweet, anyway.
First of all, the
DESIGN of this small appliance is sleek and modern. The black coloring compliments the other ebony contrasts and appliances I’ve collected.
Then, it’s
SIZE. The overall size of this wonderful little appliance is less than 20-inches long, just a bit more than 13-inches side and stands only just over 5-inches. I mean, this thing really is state-of-the-art it’s scary.
The grill, itself, measures about 12 x 16 inches and has a NON-STICK surface! That, to me, is a must with any cooking appliance.
Yes, like many other grills, it has its
HEATING ELEMENT built into the frame but it’s the
CAST IRON ALUMINUM SURFACE that makes the difference. The surface, alone, is what creates the even distribution of heat for proper cooking. After all, how many times do you cook on an electric griddle only to find your burgers or pancakes well done on one side and raw on the other? This just makes more sense!
One of the great things I like about this grill is its cover. It comes with a
TEMPERED GLASS LID that in addition to keeping your food moist and juicy, minimizes splatters. The only splatter you might have is when you lift the lid to turn over your food.
It comes with the neatest little
REMOVABLE DRIP CUP that is just perfect for catching any grease your food might create. All you need to do is dump the grease out and place the cup in the
DISHWASHER. Did I just say something about a dishwasher? Well, friends, read on!!
The entire
COOKING SURFACE CAN BE PLACED IN THE DISHWASHER!! Come on, how easy is that!!
So, now, you’re wondering if this thing is an
INDOOR GRILL, how does it cook? It has a removable
DETACHABLE ADJUSTABLE THERMOSTATIC CORD. You just plug one end into the appliance and the other into the electric outlet, set the temperature according to what you want to cook (yes it comes with a
GUIDE) and you’re good to go! Or cook, actually.
The
HANDLES STAY COOL so you can move this right from your counter top to your table top. It’s attractive enough to even place on your table for easy serving.
DeLonghi thought of everything when they created this awesome little grill. It’s so easy to clean it’s almost illegal. Really, once you use this, you’ll never go back to an electric skillet again.
Okay, so it did take me a while to actually use my grill. Don’t forget, out power went out at 4:19 on August 13th! BUT, wonderful hubby purchased a generator (to run the fans to dry out our attic and ceiling). We were able to run an extension cord so I could plug in my
INDOOR GRILL and do a bit of cooking. What a lifesaver!
Not only could I cook my chicken cutlets, but I was able to make steaks, cook corn on the cob (just as if I was using charcoal), burgers, pork chops – just a whole bundle of different food items. Now that I’ve had a taste of indoor grilling (literally, LOL), I’ll never go back to frying again.
