Product Review

Nice picture, reasonable price.

by   sjb4jc ,   Sep 29, 2004

Pros:  Picture quality, build, tons of supplied cables, sound, hefty/multi-adjustable stand.

Cons:  No complaints as of this writing.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I researched a lot of models in the 17" widescreen size. I wanted an HDTV with high resolution, 3:2 pulldown, high brightness, etc. for a competitive price. I hooked the W1700 (made by Philips) up to a Philips DVP-642 Progressive-scan DVD player using component video cables and was blown away by the vivid colors, excellent contrast, and overall great picture quality! The sound was equally impressive with good volume, adequate bass, and the simulated surround sound was great! The stand has numerous adjustments for getting the perfect angle, but is not needed with the great 176 degree viewing angle! I got it for $580 after shipping on E-bay and used the $120 I saved on the DVD player (still had $50 left...don't tell my wife!)
