Author's Review

Purchased this printer on sale on the Dell website. Didn't expect much since the printer is still relatively new to market is the reason there aren't a lot of reviews. This printer is heavy even for me the avid gym rat. Since I'm a tech geek the unwrapping the shipping materials and loading the printer cartridges was a no brainer for me. The software that comes with the printer takes some reading though, primarily because the printer can segregate users by ID. Meaning in an office setting or on a home network with a family, Jenny, Mark, and Tina may be configured so when they send documents to the printer it will only print them in black and white, while all other can print in color-pretty intelligent huh?. Also the software provides many different options for document sizes and color manipulation so you have to read as well as try the different settings to suit your taste! Amazingly the printer prints photos from my digital camera with the clarity that rivals the best inkjet photo printer. The printer prints so fast that if you blink the documents are out-amazing! I particularly like how the software allows manipulation of documents so the you can print them with different textures and sizes, like pictures for example can be printed in thumbnail size all the way up to full page photos. The software also monitors the printer to keep you informed of toner levels. I found the page count for the different colors is more than sufficient. The printer was a steal at 349.00 dollars on sale from Dell shipped to my door free in 3.5 days. Digging a little deeper I discovered this printer is manufactured by Lexmark! This printer is replacing a still running and what has been an excellent work horse Lexmark Optra R printer that surprisingly cost more back in the day than this Dell 3110cn printer cost today-wow has technology evolved! The Lexmark family of printers have always received great reviews for their performance, durability and reliability. This probably is why you'll find Lexmarks inside of major banks, credit unions and corporations. Dell does make you return to them for the replacement toner cartridges so there goes the competitive pricing that could be offered from after market vendors like CDW, Tiger Direct....etc, but this may change as this printer is still relatively new to market.
