Can't go wrong with this funky album

I bought this CD for one song -- Sly and the Family Stone's soulful "If You Want Me to Stay" -- and was pleasantly surprised when I got more than I bargained for. Turns out that this album is full of quality funk and Motown. Its one of those rare soundtracks that I listen to straight through without skipping any tracks. Personally, I like to put it on when I'm cleaning house or cooking dinner and sing along. It's also great as background music when you're driving or hanging out with friends.

In addition to Sly and the Fam, this album includes: Isaac Hayes' super-slow groove version of "Walk on By;" Curtis Mayfield's hectic "If There's Hell Below;" the smooth vocal stylings of Barry White on "Never Gonna Give You Up;" James Brown's "The Payback" (with classic lines like "I don't know karate, but I know ka-razy"); "Do Right Woman..." by Aretha Franklin; Al Green -- one of the coolest cats ever to have lived -- belting out "Tired of Being Alone;" the cheesy, but fun "Love Train" by the O'Jays; and more. The spooky and suspenseful "Dead Presidents Theme" is by the immensely talented Danny Elfman (formerly of Oingo Boingo, wrote the Simpson's theme).

What more do I have to say? If you like grooving to classic funk and Motown, you'll like the Dead President's Soundtrack. So buy the album, pop it in your stereo, shake a tail feather and sing along.
