DeLonghi oil filled radiator heater a winner

Date of Review: Dec 8, 2006

The Bottom Line:  Great for room extensions or just adding extra heat to any home
The DeLonghi oil filled radiator heater is a must for any household that needs a little extra heat(or a lot). The selaed unit it virtually maintenance free. Dust it off at the end of the cold season and that's about it. We use two of these type heaters in out home and it really cuts down on the heating bills.

This type unit is especially effective in rooms that extend off the main area of the house(sunrooms, patios, etc).

The thermostat is accurate and once set can be relied on without thought. Safety is another plus as the actual surface temperature of the unit will not "burn" small children if touched. It's hot..yes...but not hot enough to cause an instant burn.

The heat waves radiate upward constantly in a silent operation...great for TV viewing areas! Those noisy ceramic heaters are a pain when trying to listen to music of a quiet movie. The oil-filled radiator heaters are absolutely silent. The ONLY way to tell if it is on is to check the light on the on/off switch.

The color of the unit blends in with the environment and does not stand out as some high tech toy. It looks good in any room and is very portable with rolling wheels. The weight of the unit is not very much either and is easily carried up stairs.

These units work best when placed on outside walls...especially those with medium height vaulted ceilings(9-12 foot). The heat tends to rise up the angled ceiling and creates a natural circular path around the room.

Don't place them in the center of the room as that merely causes the heat to mostly rise and collect in the ceiling area. There is no "fan" on the unit, so it works by natural heat wave action as the heat rises and flows across the top of the room.

Placing them next to patio doors is also a very good setup. The heat waves tend to "push" against any incoming draft and minimize heat loss.

Wonderful heating choice!
