DeLonghi CGH800-U Sandwich Maker

This was a Christmas present that I had "hinted" at ever since seeing it at a local store. I recently made a panini sandwich with stellar results. Warm, crusty bread, melty cheese, sun dried tomatoes and artichoke hearts. It was one of the best hot sandwiches I have had and it took me 3 minuets to throw together. It was the grill that made it magic.

The build is very solid and professional feeling. I especially liked the use of stainless steel and high end materials. It looks and feels like a very expensive machine. The lid "floats" to allow different thickness and the non-stick material allows for quick clean up.

My main complaints are the lack of a power button, inability to remove the grill surfaces and the company's quality control. This last gripe is due to the fact that my unit came brand-new with a small chip in the Teflon cook surface. While small, this can quickly expand and cause sticking. It is hard to believe that this was just overlooked and will now mean a trip back to the store for a replacement.
