Beautiful crib, but will it last?

No doubt, this is one gorgeous crib. But the wood is incredibly soft, leaving me to wonder if it can make it thtough the toddler years without getting trashed!

I purchased the crib from babycenter.com after falling in love in the store. It's very nice looking, and I was sold on its versatility. When it arrived in the mail, I was a little disppointed with a couple of dents in the wood, but I didn't worry too much as I figured it was a small price to pay for getting it a little cheaper than from the local store. I had been prepared for some denting as reviews from babycenter.com mentioned this.

My son isn't even four months old and the crib is already starting to show its wear. There are numerous scratches from just the slightest scrapes. And my son doesn't even sleep in his crib yet. He's still in his bassinet and only goes to the crib to watch his mobile. I can only imagine what this bed is going to look like by the time it is ready to convert to a toddler bed.

Another concern but not sure if it is founded... it may be difficult to reach my son once we have to lower the mattress. I took a leap of faith on this one since as a pregnant woman I really couldn't test it out.

BTW, the Tiny Love mobile does attach. I had to rig it a bit by putting rubber drawer sheeting on parts that clamped to the crib as otherwise it would really tear up the wood and finish.
