Not as sturdy as I would like

We bought this crib when we were expecting our first child. We liked the simple design, the fact that only one side can be raised and lowered, there are 4 mattress positions, and the price was reasonable. When we received the crib, we found it was easy to assemble. The mechanism for raising and lowering the crib rail is easy to use and quiet. For the first year of our child's life, we thought the crib was great. Once my son became more active, however, the crib didn't seem so great anymore. My son likes to stand at one end of the crib and shake the entire crib back and forth. The crib has a lot of give and barely seems stable. We have had to tighten and re-tighten the bolts that hold the various parts of the crib together every 4 months. One evening, my husband was putting my son down to sleep in the crib when my child lurched unexpectedly causing my husband to throw his weight against the crib rail. The rail snapped in half! We repaired the crib rail with metal braces but it still doesn't seem very stable or safe. We ended up buying a new crib for my active son. We will use this crib for our second baby until she is big enough to pull-up to standing position. Then we are chucking the crib entirely.
