Good portable fighter for an under appreciated franchise
Pros:
Classic series on the go, what more could you ask?
Cons:
The PSP's controls, but you get used to it in time.
The Bottom Line:
For the price there's no excuse not to add this to your PSP collection, especially if you like fighters.

Author's Review
The Darkstalkers series was released at the height of Capcom's success with Street Fighter (SF). For that reason it's always been the "red-headed step child" to SF. And since it didn't really include any groundbreaking advances in fighting games like X-Men vs. SF and the other "VS" games (although SNK had released a few tag fighters, these tend to get more credit due to mainstream success), a lot of people never batted an eye in Darkstalers' direction.
Capcom has stuck with this franchise though and it's been going strong since its inception. For those unfamiliar with the series, it features many takes on classic and less familiar monsters. You've got your vampire, sasquatch, zombie, wolfman, etc...(I'll let you get the game then discover the actual characters)
The gameplay is your basic Street Fighter style of play. Anyone familiar with fighting games should be able to jump right in on this one. Unfortunately since it relies on the same types of commands as SF and other fighters, it is bogged down due to the PSP's d-pad. At first this can become frustrating but with time you should be able to get the feel for it and pull moves off. With their release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 on PSP, Capcom came out with an add-on for the d-pad that helps boost the ability to pull off moves on the PSP. These are easily found on the web.
The graphics in this release are spot on. Bright, colorful and full of life. It just looks great on the PSP's screen.
It's an under appreciated series and this is a culmination of each game that's been released previously. A good game for fans and new players alike!
