WARNING: Once you start playing Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC), it will consume most of your time and you will lose the desire to play other games!
Introduction
Now that we have that out of the way, let me begin by giving you a brief introduction of the game. This is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), meaning that after installing this game you will be connecting to a huge world that exists on the Internet, filled with thousands of other players just like you. Most people you meet in this game are real people and you can talk, interact, and even fight along side them. Who knows, you may even make a friend out of this game!
Overview
You begin Dark Age of Camelot by creating a player character of your choice. You can be male or female and you can choose the type of player that you want to be. These options include fighters, spellcasters, healers, and rogues.
After your character is created and designed to your liking, you will begin play and start at level 1. Your goal is to complete quests and fight things in the game that will give you treasure and help you to grown in levels, thus gaining more power and more abilities. The game was written in such a way that players can help one another and gain in power and levels faster. This encourages people to help and interact with one another, and happens all the time in the game. People playing the game tend to have a very friendly attitude toward other players and will help them in any way possible. It is not uncommon for other players to give you items that can help you and ask for nothing in return.
The Realms
At the start of the game you must also choose a realm for yourself. The game is split into three realms, which are at war with each others. When you reach a high enough level (at least 15th level), you can join this war and fight other players from different realms! You can siege their castles, fight hand-to-hand, take out several at once with a well placed fireball, and more! It is almost something out of a Braveheart-like movie! It is truely amazing and so much fun!
