Author's Review
with all of the hype surrounding thriller and the disappointment of bad, most people assumed that the gloved one had reached the peak of his creative summit, that his glory days were over. so, its really not that surprising that when dangerous came out, most people had this very passe attitude about it. i was one of them. then, almost 2 years after dangerous came out, i decided to buy it because i really liked the song from free willy (will you be there). i was blown away! to this day, it remains my favorite album of all time and, i believe, one of the most underrated albums of all time. it begins with the energy packed "jam", which is not only very funky but brilliant lyrically as well. next up is "why you wanna trip on me", which is one of the weaker tracks on the album but highly listenable to nonetheless. then there is "in the closet" which is michael at his pure r&b best. "she drives me wild" is probably one of the more underrated tracks on this underrated cd-pure funk. im not sure why this seems to happen so often (with so many artists), but the first single to be released off this masterpiece is probably the weakest fare here- black or white. but the cd quickly redeems itself with perhaps michaels best song ever (but once again generally underappreciated as just another billie jean rip-off), "who is it". this is followed by the very sexual "give in to me" and then by the sublime "will you be there". the album ends with yet another excellent track, "dangerous". its really hard to say why this album wasnt more well recieved when it came out. maybe its because it was released something like a month after nirvanas "nevermind" (largely regarded as one of the most influencial albums of all time) came out. i cannot stress enough how much i felt this album, of all of michaels in particular, was underrated. even if youve never liked michael jackson, theres bound to be at least one song here that you would probably think would be worth the entire price of admission.
