The latest, but not the greatest

It's hard to write a review for DDR: Universe. Simply because it's DDR everyone knows it; its a dancing game with a pad that you follow the arrows on the screen to get an increasingly higher score.

So what's new in the latest DDR? Not much actually, there are new modes. But they're really just filler. Theres bomb mode where you dance and avoid the bombs. And there are different challenges that are near impossible but allow you to improve your skills. There's a calorie counter...it's a calorie counter.

Online mode isn't all it's cracked up to be, it feels like it's tacked on there's not much to do other than play a song with three other people. The worse part is when you play with three people; their screen is as big as yours meaning there's four little arrow screens that you can barely see.

The song list is pretty boring. Songs we pretty much already heard a million kajillion times. Like rapper's delight or jamaraqui (sp?) I was really hoping to hear some independent groups and some crazy j-pop.

The worst part about DDR: Uni is that sometimes (and i mean like 1 out of 10 times) the screen will skip causing the arrows to screw up causing you to screw up unavoidably. Which was a problem in the last games but you'd think they would have fixed the problem.

Overall it feels less like an upgrade and more like just another DDR. If you like DDR and don't own it already you might as well buy the newest version, however if you have it on an older platform don't waste your money.
