Dance Dance Revolution Makes it to the U.S.? Where's the rest of the Bemani series??
Pros:
Incredible gameplay, extremely catchy songs, great exercise... and... it's so cool...
Cons:
Without the dance mat, it's not fun...
The Bottom Line:
This game is easily one of the most interesting and fun I've played. Get it, and dance. Now.

I remember some time ago ordering for a hefty price the Japanese game Dance Dance Revolution 2, and a generic brand DDR Dance Mat Controller. I got them out, plugged it in. I realized that buying a mod device for my PlayStation wasn't a bad idea after all.
Even better is the original Dance Dance Revolution, now available in 100% English. Finally the general public can feel the force of this absolutely awesome game.
DDR isn't exactly going to be like any game you've seen before, unless you've already imported some Bemani (Beat Mania) series games from our friends at Konami. This odd series of games focuses around music, whether you're mixing music at the turntables or dancing to it with DDR, the Bemani series always provides some amount of fun. It's not too strange in Japan, but here in America, the techno tunes and characters of Dance Dance Revolution aren't exactly run of the mill... The uniqueness of this and the rest of the DDR/Bemani games really shines.
Basically, you stand on a dance pad. This pad consists of a number of multicolored arranged buttons. The game starts, the music begins, arrows roll down the screen, and you press the corresponding arrow on the pad when an arrow or group of arrows reaches a certain point. Once you start getting into it, you'll realize that you're dancing. You'll realize that it's fun. You'll realize it's a lot of work, too, but atleast you're exercising, right?
The graphics- great. The music- greater. The unique play, the addictive play- enough to make you pop it into your machine over, and over, and over... and over... It's too bad the rest of the Bemani series hasn't made it to the states, but maybe those crazy kids at Konami have something up their sleeves?
What else can be said... Dance Dance Revolution rules.
