Product Review

Excellent camera

by   dsmines ,   Jun 22, 2005

Pros:  For the $$ can not get a better camera. Plug and play with Windows XP.

Cons:  Moving objects.. No way. Shutter speed is too slow. Low lighting conditions... forget it.

The Bottom Line:  This is an excellent camera for the beginner. It is very easy to use and is plug and play compatible with Windows XP

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

My company purchased this camera for all Lead Techs in the field for taking pictures before, during and after Network Conversions. I used the camera in 42 cities for 16 weeks and found it to be very easy to use. I could get shots of the whole data center or get right up on top a device to show the wiring and\or ports. Even the video mode worked well. When pictures are taken, the camera shows the picture briefly before switching back to taking picture mode. I never loaded the included software. Windows XP has digital camera functionality built-in. I just pugged in the USB cable, Windows XP recognized the camera and downloaded the pics. It even asked if I wanted to delete the originals. There are some cons too. The camera does NOT do well on ANY moving objects. The shutter speed is waaaay too slooow. It does not take good low light shots either. On highest resolution the camera can only take a few shots before pics have to be downloaded. Please do not misunderstand... for what I needed to use the camera for, it worked great. Its when I took it to outside concerts or picnics in the park with the kids (low light, moving) that it was found wanting. BUT.. this is NOT a $700 camera either. To conclude... for the $$, you can not get a better camera, HOWEVER... one definitely needs to know how they are going to be using this camera.
