Nice clean DVD/VCR combo unit

Date of Review:  Dec 28, 2003
Review: Having a DVD and VCR player both die within months of each other, and quickly running out of shelf space, we went shopping for a new unit. We came across the Philips DVD750VR, a DVD and VCR unit in one compact space saving design. The silver casing...

Don't Even Think About This One!!

Date of Review:  Apr 5, 2005
The Bottom Line: I'm looking at a GoVideo DV-1030 or Sanyo DVW-7000 as a replacement as I need the unit to read DVD RW's I make from time to time..
Review: Didn't Last 1 year! What a shame as it would play a large
variety of DVD formats + other assorted VCD's.
And after paying $125 at Wallyworld (Walmart) I do feel cheated. The Features list for the unit are very impressive; for greater...

Combo unit- both failed

Date of Review:  Mar 6, 2004
The Bottom Line: Avoid. Number of failures makes me think it's not a fluke.
Review: Yep, not only did half of the combo let me down, but so did the other half. Bought it because it would be only one price of equipment on my entertainment center, it had an antenna out for my old TV, and it looked nice.

Shortly after the...

Excellent DVD/VCR Combo

Date of Review:  Mar 15, 2004
Review: This combo was an excellent addition to my home entertainment center. The installation was just as easy as any other DVD/VCR player I have dealt with and it provided me with many options including the abilty to upgrade. The size of this unit is much...

Philips HACKS Electronics USA

Date of Review:  Feb 25, 2007
Review: Purchased a Philips DVDR75 Recorder/Burner for $500.00 when it was new. I wanted to transfer some videos to DVD. The unit would not transfer the picture correctly (true to the original) and it was so sensitive that if the video had a poor picture,...

Buy something else.

Date of Review:  Jan 19, 2006
Review: It took about 3 weeks for this thing to start eating my tapes. Now, after about 9 months, it has stopped responding to its remote. It's up to you.

DVD for Dummies

Date of Review:  Jan 8, 2001
Review: Like most people, I was searching for the perfect gift to get my family this Christmas. Again, like most, I don't have a ton of cash to spend. Instead of purchasing a computer, trampoline or trip to the Bahamas, I decided that I would buy a DVD...

Do *NOT* buy this unit

Date of Review:  Dec 22, 2004
Review: I bought this unit from Fry's, needing a DVD player and wanting a combo unit to cut down on space requirements. This unit listed a lot of features and many capabilities for playback. Easy connections and I was happy with the units playback quality...

Think twice before replacing your SVHS recorder with the current DVD recorders

Date of Review:  Jan 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: Great recorder if you are happy to record less then 3 hours. I would, however, consider a recorder with hard drive to have good quality with longer recording capabilities.
Review: I wanted to by a DVD recorder for two main reasons. First of all to record my DV camcorder tapes and secondly to have my SVHS recorder replaced. The first part went fine. Using M1 (High Quality 1h on a 4.7GB DVD disk) or 2M (2hour standard play)...

Great Recorder, great price

Date of Review:  Mar 6, 2004
The Bottom Line: Recommended because of its price and quality of recording. Half the price of units with hard drives, and with a few DVD RW's, it's just as functional.
Review: I returned two cyberhome 1500's due to faulty editing experiences. While the cyberhome was cheaper and had easier menu navigation, the Philips has performed 110% better and was worth figuring out the directions. It helped that I'd been broken in...
