Product Review

Much better than Others say, Really! Read This!

by   cbarker ,   Jan 23, 2004

Pros:  Numerous recording speeds, great picture, component video outputs and progressive scan!

Cons:  Vague remote wording, but not any big deal.

The Bottom Line:  I say get this machine. Progressive scan is offered at a great price, throw away your VCR, they are crap. GET a DVD recorder, and this is a good one.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased this machine, and was up and running within 10 minutes, simple install even with a several component home theater system.

Others are talking about the quality of the video, let me say that garbage in equals garbage out. You CANNOT record from a crappy VHS tape or camcorder and expect the quality to improve, that can't happen no matter what machine you have.

I record regularly from my dishnetwork DVR straight to the DVD recorder and use the M2+ setting, this allows 2 1/2 hours of recording time per disc, perfect for just about any movie. Quality is first rate, as good as anything I have ever bought from Hollywood or rented at the local DVD rental store.

If you send a great digital signal into the machine, you get a great digital quality recording, simple as that!

I have no complaints other than the remote "wording" being a little vague compared to what we are used to. For instance instead of "View" or "Input Select" you get "Monitor" or have to change the input by changing the channel up or down.

Not any big deal, like I said, I was making a recording within 10 minutes.

I have recorded over 30 movies from HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, etc, and also made DVD's of my old VHS tapes. Every recording is exactly as good as the original, that's what digital is, after all! Think CD copies made on your home computer, same thing. 100th copy is the same quality as the 1st, and they never wear out!!!!

My opinion, get this machine.
