Excellent machine. $399.00 - best deal going!!!

by   action84 ,  Dec 30, 2003
Pros: Plus DVD format. Easy one touch recording. Quality picture. Ilink/firewire port.
Cons: Menus, Remote, and Manual.
The Bottom Line: Best value for your Money
Review: The unit I purchased was 399.00 and was made in China (AVOID UNITS MADE ELSEWHERE). Quality of recordings is excellent. Easy one touch recording. Automatically builds its own Menu and chapters when recording (all you have to do is title). I would ...

Much better than Others say, Really! Read This!

by   cbarker ,  Jan 23, 2004
Pros: Numerous recording speeds, great picture, component video outputs and progressive scan!
Cons: Vague remote wording, but not any big deal.
The Bottom Line: I say get this machine. Progressive scan is offered at a great price, throw away your VCR, they are crap. GET a DVD recorder, and this is a good one.
Review: I purchased this machine, and was up and running within 10 minutes, simple install even with a several component home theater system. Others are talking about the quality of the video, let me say that garbage in equals garbage out. You CANNOT record ...

Great Digital DVD Recorder

by   painterroy ,  Jan 6, 2004
Pros: dvd instead of tapes, better recordings, ability to hide chapters (you won't see commercials)
Cons: sophisticated component, not for people who can't program VCRs
The Bottom Line: for the price it's a great machine, just take your time to learn it
Review: I've read a lot of the reviews here and it seems a lot of people are having problems using this machine. If you have problems programming a VCR then yes you will have problems using this recorder. However if you are the least bit computer literate or can ...

DVD for Dummies

by   lisalexx ,  Jan 8, 2001
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: lots of functions that I haven't figured out yet
Review: Like most people, I was searching for the perfect gift to get my family this Christmas. Again, like most, I don't have a ton of cash to spend. Instead of purchasing a computer, trampoline or trip to the Bahamas, I decided that I would buy a DVD...

A Very Good Product

by   dpblock ,  Jun 13, 2004
Pros: Great Price and Easy To Use.
Cons: Cheap DVD's did not work in 1 of my 4 DVD Players
Review: Easy to use. I do not understand why people say the manual is difficult. It was very simple. Quality pretty good. Easy to edit by hitting the pause button. Do not forget to finalize the disk when using ...

In to the 21st Century

by   fisgard ,  Mar 24, 2004
Pros: Super performance all round
Cons: The manual is abysmal
Review: The manual is awful. It took a whole weekend to get in to its workings. Even then a neighbour had to help with the freeview.(a UK TV system) Eventually it was all working and it is a dream. Still to get to grips with editing but that will come I am ...

GREAT DVD RECORDER!

by   rudy_2002us ,  Dec 12, 2004
Pros: good quality video, reliable, easy to use once you get used to it!
Cons: POORLY written manual, remote has too many buttons
Review: I bought this unit shortly after having a horrible time with my old cyberhome clunker! this unit is very easy to use! the menus are hard to navigate, but other than that this unit works great! it records to dvd+R and DVD+RW discs. most discs are ...

Excellent DVD/VCR Combo

by   onyourhead ,  Mar 15, 2004
Pros: Size, supported formats, hookups, price, availability
Cons: Buttons on the front of the unit
Review: This combo was an excellent addition to my home entertainment center. The installation was just as easy as any other DVD/VCR player I have dealt with and it provided me with many options including the abilty to upgrade. The size of this unit is much ...

At $139 - $129 Was Money Well Spent - Worthless $10 Remote – Philips DVD750VR/17

by   lynus ,  Oct 13, 2003
Pros: Combo player, low price, small design.
Cons: Stupid remote, some usability errors.
The Bottom Line: At $139 a good product for the price. Everything works great and picture quality is good. Horrible remote.
Review: Introduction: Amazing how far technology has come. It has only been 9 years since I bought my first VCR, 4 years since my first DVD player – and now I own a VCR/DVD combo the Philips DVD750VR. Whereas both my old VCR and DVD were in exc ...

A good DVD recorder but difficult to operate initially..

by   electroham ,  Feb 8, 2004
Pros: Low cost, quality manufacture, and ease of use (eventually)
Cons: Very poorly written manual
The Bottom Line: A good selection for the money. A bit difficult to use, but given another couple of years, the software should be refined sufficiently to allow easier use of future recorders.
Review: The DVDR75 was chosen over others because it records in DVD+R & DVDR+RW, it is relatively inexpensive, and it is not built in China (i.e. is not of poor quality). The Firewire interface is also a benefit for interfacing with a digital camcorder (our next ...
