flawless (so far)

I almost returned this router based on the review already posted. But I downloaded the owner's manual from dlink.com and looked it over before installing it. The online docs looked pretty easy to set up with many options. Also, the manual was quite detailed at 83 pages. I was also happy that dlink.com was done very well with an effective layout and it was easy to find product support and downloads.

So I decided to unpack the router and set it up. I did *not* use the CD wizard at all...I did a manual configuration which was almost nothing, since I have a cable modem connection. I was online in under 3 minutes. Also, I was able to change the default network from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 (the "standard" addressing scheme most often used by home/private networks) with just a few clicks. But don't forget to change the IP address on the computer you are using to access the dlink router.

Once I had the router up and working, the wireless security was also easy to set up. The router gives several choices for encryption and the defaults are most likely already the best choice.

Overall, I was very surprised at how intuitive and flexible the admin web interface turned out to be. It is very easy to change and tweak the router's operations. The web administration allows a lot of options for services and port forwarding. So far, wireless performance is great and my laptop connected immediately.

I recommend this router without any reservation.

Note: I had a Belkin F5D7230-4 (ver.4001) that worked for almost a year pretty well. Then it needed a reboot every few days, and then every day. Today it finally died, so I bought the Dlink DIR-615.
