Cyberhome sold these units knowing they were faulty
Date of Review: Aug 30, 2006
The Bottom Line: My recommendation is to steer clear of Cyberhome products. Even if their products improve, will their customer service?
To all you people with the battery problem. Cyberhome knew of the problem but continued to sell the product. Not only did they let stores sell them, they still supplied stores with faulty units with an "addendum" to the instructions which explained the user has to remove the battery when not in use....yeah like we'd remember that every time! This didn't work so they had to supply customers with a battery conditioner free of charge, and rightfully so. If you ask me they should have replaced the whole unit with a different model, after all the units were still faulty.
In my case, I purchased the player while on holiday in Florida, I'm from Scotland. Cyberhome would not entertain helping me because of my geographical situation, THE FLIPPIN UNITS ARE MADE IN ASIA FOR GOD'S SAKE. Apparently they have a problem shipping to the UK for some weird reason...could it be they are lazy B*****ds? Cyberhome Europe would not help either, "because you bought the DVD player in the states"
I made it easy for them and told them I'd be returning to the states, they agreed to send a battery conditioner to my hotel...they had a month's notice of my arrival. Six weeks later on the day I was returning home, no sign of a Cyberhome package despite a call to them after the first week.
I contacted them when I got home and now they won't reply to my emails. All this hassle over a $10 battery conditioner, guess who's products I won't be buying in the future? Oh, BTW, I purchased my unit from Walmart and when they heard of my problem with Cyberhome they agreed to send me another non-Cyberhome DVD player free of charge....get this Cyberhome...TO SCOTLAND!! UP YOURS. I like to think that my discussions with Walmart has prompted them to stop supplying Cyberhome products.
So my review was "somewhat helpful" to someone. You are probably right as I didn't actually review the product as such. I didn't see the point in analysing a product which by my original comments you should not be considering purchasing. :)
