Not for Windows 98 (Despite What the Package Says)

Date of Review: May 15, 2006

The package for this unit said it worked on Windows 98 and Windows 98SE. Guess again. After wasting 3 hours trying to get it working on my Dell Windows 98 machine, I gave up in frustration and returned it to the store.

The hub seemed to power one USB device okay, but Windows would not turn the computer off (or boot it back up) as long as the hub was plugged into the computer's USB port. I have no idea why, as it seemed to me like running one device through the hub would be the same as plugging it directly into the port. It didn't work that way, though. Since it would work with only one device plugged in, I never bothered plugging in the 3 devices I had intended.

Perhaps it might work with Windows 98SE.
