Heresy? Cutty Sark LIKE Glenlivet

by   rob1326 ,  Mar 26, 2006
Pros: Light, mellow ,nice vanilla hints. Low on the peat. Not expensive. Speyside influence;oak aged.
Cons: Being a blend, Cutty has little status with single malt fans.
The Bottom Line: Try Cutty Sark at half the price of Glenlivet 12. Taste is similar but "The Glen" costs twice as much. Agree/disagree-either way both are excellent. Consider Cutty a cult whisky.
Review: Ok-Here we go. Was once upon a time a scotch whisky drinker- that was before single malts were popular. Had many a brand, but Cutty I fondly remember as my "medicinal each evening"- a veritable health food. Then became a bourbon drinker- liked Wild ...

Cutty Sark: Taste is Lacking, Price is a Winner

by   nchoward , top reviewer in Restaurants & Gourmet at Epinions.com ,  Jan 3, 2007
Pros: For $17/bottle, this whisky is better than other whiskeys you'll just mix with Cola
Cons: If you like to sip whisky neat, please stay away.
The Bottom Line: Don't spend over $20 on whisky/whiskey if you are just going to mix it. Shop for Cutty Sark first. It has a good price for an average taste
Review: Cutty Sark Original Scots Whisky is a middle of the road blended whisky that can be sipped only by those who are used to neat whisky. Other uninitiated whisky drinkers will think they can strip their furniture with it. Please add Cola. ...

by   thizzard_of_oz ,  Nov 19, 2005
Pros: Keeps you warm, tastes good, and gets you DRUNK!!!
Cons: None..what you think??
Review: C.u.t.t.y. is pretty fire in taste and personality. This stuff ain't messing around. It'll put some hair on your chest player. C.u.t.t.y. has a smooth taste, and burns going down. The strong after taste churns a fire in your belly. Might as well get ...

Well behaved

by   fitzspike195 ,  Sep 19, 2007
Pros: Smooth and light bodied.
Cons: A bit pricey for the middle shelf
Review: I had a sergeant in the Army that used to drink this exclusively. He would take a can of Coke and drink a little out it and fill it up with Cutty. Only he called it Cutty Shark. He drank close to a fifth every night on the weekends this way. Many years ...
