Piece of Crappy Crap!!
Date of Review: Jan 20, 2007
The Bottom Line: Plain and simple: This phone doesn't work as advertised! Don't buy it.
I wanted a cordless phone with speaker phone capabilities, intercom and good range because we have a pretty big house and yard. The price was right and the packaging was enticing. Especially the 6.0 Digital "INTERFERENCE FREE" statement screaming "BUY ME" from the box. However, I did not do my homework and made an impulse purchase. BAAAAD idea.
I searched the manual on the way home for the range on the cordless handset. It was no where to be found. First red flag. I charged the handsets for the requisite 16 hours and my husband and I proceeded to hook them up this morning.
We put the main phone in the office and the 2nd handset in the bedroom across the hall. The first thing my husband said is "I can't read the screen!" He asked me to figure out how to adjust the contrast. Alas, you cannot adjust the contrast on the screen and are stuck squinting at the bright blue screen trying to figure out what it says.
The phone in the office had very poor sound quality so I searched the trouble shooting guide in the manual to try and find out how to alleviate the problem. It said that other electronics will interfere with the sound quality. Duh, our office has a computer, printer, scanner, laptop, postage machine, calculator, etc... (I suppose there would be no interference in sound quality if you had no other electric appliances in your home and lived in the boonies!)
So, I had my husband crawl back under the desk and remove the phone cord and plug amid all of the other cords and crap we hide under there. A job he despises, so now WE are not in a good mood anymore!!
We switched the location of the phones thinking that this would solve the "interference" problem. NOT! Being early on a Saturday morning and not wanting to wake anyone with a sound quality check, I called our own number and got our voice mail. I could not understand my message; it was garbled, fuzzy, fading in and out and extremely tinny. My husband used his cell phone to call in and confirmed that the sound quality on a live call was just as bad.
Needless to say, we unplugged these phones, reinstalled the old avacado green rotary dial phone that has worked great for 30 years... and for the next hour tried to figure out how to get all of the "stuff" back into the little box. It is going back to the store today! Fortunately Fred Meyer has a 30 day no hassle return policy. I hope that they will accept a slightly mangled, pudgy box, because we could not figure out how all of the pieces went back together in that box.
This product is not worth your time or money.
6.0 digital technology is a marketing tool. Don't fall for it like I did.
