Useless!

The Bottom Line: Pass this one up.
I made the mistake of ignoring all the reviews about this phone because I wanted a cordless speakerphone with an extra handset. Trying to find one with a lighted keypad, without an answering machine became a monumental task. I was excited to find all those features on this model for $75 by the respected name GE.
What I can say is that this silver colored phone is very sharp looking and lightweight and the LCD screen is beautiful royal blue. The phones are ergonomically shaped to fit the hand very comfortably. I really cannot tell about any other features because I never got to use them.
After charging the phones for 16 hours (according to the instructions) there was no dial tone and it read "out of range". "Out of range" of what? The phone jack and electrical outlet are approximately 8 inches from the actual phone. I unplugged any other phones throughout the house just to make sure there wasn't any "interference". Still it read "out of range" and still no dial tone.
After literally playing "musical chairs" with these phones, plugging and unplugging, moving closer and moving further, switching bases, mounting and unmounting, etc. for three days I decided to call customer service. When I was told "hmmm, I'm not sure", I gave up.
When I returned the phones to the store the clerk told me she has the same model with the same problem "periodically". (This one never even worked "periodically".) If the phone only works periodically, that makes it totally unreliable. What if it reads "out of range" when there is a true emergency? GE needs to go back to the drawing board on this one.
In summary: Buyer beware. Don't waste your time and money. Heed the reviews and look for a different phone.
