Author's Review
The Cuisinart Smart Power Duet Blender/Food Processor BFP-703 is a well-designed and aesthetically pleasing investment. Ever since I bought mine (over 2 years ago), I have regularly used it at least 3-5 times a week, and it still runs perfectly.
Pros:
1)The blender is extremely durable due to the facts that the pitcher is made out of thick, quality glass, and that the blades are extra long and thick and made out of strong steel.
2)The pitcher has a wide mouth at the bottom for greater blade coverage, which makes it easier to quickly mix up those normally troublesome frozen drinks, such as margaritas or smoothies.
3)The design of the base is smooth and glossy, made for easy cleaning. All of the buttons are enclosed by a layer of plastic so that there are no buttons with cracks into which food can fall. During clean up, I just simply run a sponge over the base, picking up anything that I might have spilled. This is a relief compared to trying to pick out all of the gummy stuff that accumulates around the buttons of other blenders.
4)The food processor is effective, simple to use, and easy to clean. There are no confusing extra parts that sometimes comes with other food processors.
5)The base has many speed settings, including a convenient "pulse" option, which allows you to easily "pulse" any of the speed settings. This is an especially convenient function for food processing.
6)The fact that the blender and the food processor share a base greatly reduces storage space. This is also a plus when it comes to the price, as this product as a combo is a lot cheaper than buying a separate blender and food processor.
7)The product on a whole is extremely aesthetically pleasing. It comes in black or white, and adds a nice touch to the kitchen, rather than making the kitchen appear cluttered. Also, the cord is retractable and stored inside the base, thereby adding to its beauty.
Cons:
1)The food processor can be a bit excessively noisy sometimes, depending on what I'm processing. I think that a professional or industrial grade food processor might not make quite as much noise, but it is not enough of a difference to bother me.
2)The food processor pitcher will not be big enough for someone who is regularly cooking for a family or a restaurant. It is smaller than that of a normal food processor, so it does well for an individual or a childless couple.
