Quality issue with grinder

Definitely watch the 20 minute CD that comes with the machine as it will answer all of your questions and resolve most of the issues that people are having.

Overall it makes a really good pot of coffee and you can adjust the strength from weak to strong. It stores 1/2 pound of beans which is a major plus. All of the parts with the exception of the grinder are easy to clean after daily use. I returned my first one because of a grinder malfunction and will test out a second one tomorrow. By the way, I disagree with the people that are complaining that the coffee isn't hot enough. I also disagree with the people that are complaining that the it is difficult to pour water into the back of the machine. My friend who is 5 feet tall didn't have any problem at all.

A minor complaint would be the sound that signals when the brewing process is over. You can barely hear it as it is extremely low. I have a Cuisinart toaster/oven and it has a loud enough beep that you can hear it in the next room. They should tweak this beeper feature and increase the volume.

They also have a stainless carafe version of this grind and brew machine which some people may prefer. That model does not have a heating plate like the DGB-700BC does.

I think Cuisinart rushed this model to the market and didn't properly test the grinder for cleaning issues. There is a need for improvement in the grinder mechanism and once it is resolved, Cuisinart will have a winner for an everyday coffee machine with a grinder.

PS, a tip for some people that are having the clogging issues with their grinder. A possible cause is that you are using flavored beans. While researching coffee machines with bulit-in grinders I noticed that Capresso states on their website never to use flavored beans. They are coated and that causes clogging in the grinder blades. They recommend that you use flavored liquids after brewing if desired. In my case the problem on the first DGB-700BC that I returned had nothing to do with using flavored beans. However many of us purchase flavors like hazelnut which could be an issue for this machine or any other with a built-in grinder.

An update for all reading this post. My replacement unit had the same clogging issue in under one week. I returned it and I have replaced it with a Capresso CoffeeTeam S #454 which has received excellent reviews on this website.
