Coffee maker fails after a few months
Date of Review: Mar 4, 2009
The Bottom Line: This product is a waste of money.
We were impressed with this coffee maker, except for a few design flaws, until it completely quit after 7 or 8 months. For $10 plus the cost of shipping back the old unit, Cuisinart sent a replacement. Now it's 7 or 8 months later and guess what -- the replacement has stopped working. Just like the first one the clock still works, but it won't brew coffee.
Here are some of the design flaws: 1. The filling procedure is very awkward and even more so if you are short, because the coffee maker is very tall. 2. It is difficult to fill without spilling water all around because you have to pour from a wide spout into a very small opening. 3. The coffee "bucket" used for filling has no cup markings so you have to overfill it then empty it again when the reservoir has the right amount. 4. And since the reservoir gauge is on the side under where you fill it, it is hard to see and easier to spill while you are trying to see how much water you have put in! 5. It is difficult to see how much coffee you are dispensing into your cup. 6. Travel mugs do not fit under the dispenser.
