Great Grinds -- Excellent Value Grinder
Date of Review: Apr 17, 2007
The Bottom Line: Just get this grinder at Costco! For once, it's a cheap, great, reliable product. Amen!
The CCM-16PC is, apparently, the Costco version of the DBM-8. The first attraction of this burr grinder is that it is priced significantly less than virtually any other burr grinder out there. We paid $29.95. I can't say that it provides the best possible grind in the world, but for the light roasts, it produces excellent fine through course grinds. With dark roasted beans, the oil can clog it, but this has been rare for us (more likely some buildup on the walls of the output bin, loosened with a tap on the counter). We have not experienced the "static" problem that others have noted.
This grinder took us from buying pre-ground coffee to *REQUIRING* freshly ground whole beans, because it is *SO* much better! We have used this grinder each day, sometimes twice, for the last two years, and only twice have overly-oily beans clogged it up. This is an excellent grinder, and we have given it as gifts (at the even lower Costco price of $24.95!) to both sets of parents, introducing them to the world of whole beans!
We use it at the setting 2 away from the coarsest grind for our daily French Press! yum yum!
The "noise" problem people seem to have is just silly. It's a burr grinder, it is loud for 10-15 seconds, no big deal.
