Aesthetically pleasing, horrible rice no more! Update July'09

I gave this rice cooker a 2nd chance and it's not as bad as I first thought. It's making consistent well cooked rice. I had to figure it out to get good results.
Here's some updated TIPS:
- drain washed rice very well.
- add same amount of water as rice.
- leave the rice to swell and steam until completion, AFTER the red light goes off. Hope this helps. I'm keeping my rice cooker. It's OK after all.

I bought this Cuisinart based on it's good looks and larger capacity.

It makes gooey and undercooked rice. I've ruined a few dinners because of it. Being Asian, I know my rice. I like firm individual grains, not sticking together excessively or sloppy. I also like brown, red, and purple rice. This Cuisinart cooks none well, nor does it work very well as a steamer while the rice is cooking.

After 6 attempts, I finally was able to cook a batch of rice to my liking, ONLY if I stood by and babysat it. I had to re-start it three times after it was 'done' and use MUCH LESS water than the instructions sugg..
