Cuisinart CRC-400 4 cup rice cooker: It's ok for the price.

Date of Review:  Aug 3, 2007
The Bottom Line: For the price it's ok, and there's no aluminum in the bowl, but maybe we'll look next time for a brand that doesn't boil over at all.
Review: My wife wanted a rice cooker. We looked at lots of them. We had fun on our days off searching around at Macy's, Chinatown Oakland and Chinatown San Francisco, Long's drugs, and a few other stores. Little did I know that there were so many brands,...

A Decent Compact Rice Cooker

Date of Review:  Aug 28, 2005
The Bottom Line: A compact rice cooker that will suffice for small households -- likely not the best available, but performs decently considering the price.
Review: I received this rice cooker as a housewarming gift. I had been planning on purchasing a Chinese or Japanese brand of rice cooker (similar to the ones I grew up with), but decided to give this one a try. Overall, I find it to be a decent product...

A Very Helpful Rice Cooker

Date of Review:  Dec 14, 2005
The Bottom Line: Recommended for convenience and ease of use. Cooks rice and oatmeal perfectly. Stove-top rice? No way, not any more.
Review: Not only does this rice cooker make rice, but you can also make oatmeal and steam vegetables with it. I bought this rice cooker on the recommendation of one of my sisters, who uses it almost every day.

I have found that when I make the...

Perhaps for the experienced only?

Date of Review:  Nov 29, 2007
The Bottom Line: I'd have to say no. Rice should be one of the easiest things to make and this doesn't let you.
Review: I've read the reviews on this page and agree with everyone to a certain extent.

A little history. I've always used the rice cooker with the sealed lid where the condensation would collect on the side. It being sealed, it allowed me to keep...

Sorry I bought it...

Date of Review:  Mar 20, 2007
The Bottom Line: Not recommended. This product forces a cleanup of the counter top and the thermostat failed.
Review: I've used this rice cooker for about a year and half. It's all stainless steel design and how nice it looked next to the other stainless appliances in the newly redone kitchen is what sold me on buying it. I should have done some more research.

oops! Cuisinart goofed on this one

Date of Review:  Jan 21, 2007
Review: This is actually a dangerous product. You can plug it in and no light will come on until a certain time or temp is reached. Imagine spilling or tipping it over and not know the contents are hot! I've scorched rice a half dozen times at all levels...

Boiling Over Drove Me Nuts!

Date of Review:  Jun 15, 2006
Review: I purchased this product because I have another Cuisinart product, which is the 12-cup coffee maker. The coffee maker is fantastic, so I thought I'd try out their rice cooker. Sad to say, I've since returned it to the store I bought it from. Reason...

Great Experience

Date of Review:  Jan 26, 2007
Review: We bought our rice cooker this past week. After purchase we read the reviews on this site and were prepared to take the unit back to the store. Today we tried it for the first time and it performed as we would expect from a Cuisinart product.

Great brand name - Soggy Rice

Date of Review:  Jun 4, 2006
Review: I thought I could rely on the Cuisinart brand name as I have been happy with their products in the past. Unfortunately this rice maker is really poor. It makes rice that is soggy AND burned on the bottom! How do they do that - and why?

The...

Yuck! Cuisinart, what happened??

Date of Review:  Sep 5, 2007
Review: I am not impressed. Agree with most comments below - lid hard to clean, rice doesn't come out well. Directions could be so much better. I made a dish tonight TO THE "T" - rice with steamed fish - it was awful. The fish was overcooked even though I...
