Cuisinart CBK - 200 Bread Maker. Had it for over a year and love it!
Date of Review: Jun 26, 2008
The Bottom Line: I use this machine all the time and would buy this brand again. It's all about great crust!
Our 3rd bread maker and our first Cuisinart bread maker. It makes the BEST crust of any we've had! Medium sized loaves turn out best. Large are too big for sandwiches, but would be fine for cutting to go with soup/stew. Found a gently used one on EBay for about $30 and use it once or twice per week.
Favorite recipe is 2/3 white, 1/3 wheat, buttermilk, and one egg. This machine turns it into a fine-crusted toasting loaf with a fabulous crackly crust. I pause it after the first rise and remove the paddle and the loaf looks homemade. It also makes a first rate pizza dough. The long kneading makes the finished pizza crust chewy, like that from good pizzarias.
Some of the other reviews have mentioned that the pan doesn't stay clipped into position. In a year of use, we've never had that problem. It's quiet and the outside of the unit doesn't become too hot to touch.
Once in a while, flour in the corners of the rectangular pan doesn't get mixed in. I check it 3 to 5 minutes after the kneading starts and if necessary, pause it and run a spatula around. Small price to pay for such great crust!
