Not bad at all!

by   fizzynada ,  Dec 25, 2007
Pros: Quick and dirty transfers. The look and construction of the unit are incredible!
Cons: Hiss and pops are still present with transfer - however I didn't expect a miracle.
The Bottom Line: This is a great product. However, if you are looking for transfers that sound like store bought CDs you may be disappointed. Great product!
Review: This is a great product. I do not understand all of the negative reviews being left here. I got this first and foremost because I wanted a record player. I thought the added feature of transferring an occasional record or tape to compact disc was a great ...

crosley recorder

by   gooddayb ,  Mar 9, 2008
Pros: great sound and looks
Cons: I haven't found any yet.
Review: I have had mine since Dec.07.Before buying it,I tried it in the store, because I had read a few bad reports.I liked it in the store. The manager helped me with it,and he even commented on how great it sounded. Old 78's sound great,so do cd's and ...

No ptoblems for me, works and looks great

by   vinylspindoc ,  Feb 7, 2009
Pros: Great finish, nice styling.
Cons: Don't expect audiophile performance for $300.
Review: I held off buying for quite sometime due to poor reviews, and am only glad I did because the price dropped.  I have burned about 10 cd's at this point.  No, the CD's aren't the best quality, but neither is vinyl.  You still hear the pops ...

CD record - Yes; CD ripping - No!

by   lurube ,  Jan 19, 2008
Pros: Works exactly as advertised.
Cons: Beware all the diatribe posted by folks who don't know their ear from their elbow.
Review: No one else has mentioned this so I'll throw it out there in case it's relevant to someone. This unit records your vinyl/tapes to CD, but it records an entire side as one track. If you expect to put this CD in your computer and rip to another file ...

Needs a bit of improvement

by   mezzomia ,  Oct 19, 2006
Pros: Easy to use. Makes CDs quickly and allows you to choose which tracks to record.
Cons: Poor sound quality on the turntable player.
Review: Overall, I am pleased with the Crosley Songwriter. It's easy to use and has a handsome, retro design. The stereo sound quality is good on all the components except for the turntable. LPs sound as though they are being played on a child's record player ...

Well, At Least It Looks Good ...

by   riflesportfan ,  Jan 14, 2007
Pros: Easy to use and I guess it looks nice.
Cons: Does not record radio broadcasts; cassette runs too fast; bad aux buzz.
The Bottom Line: There has to be a better product. Save your money and keep looking!
Review: I have a bunch of LP's that are unlikely ever to be re-released on CD, I want to listen to them on my iPod, and I don't have the time to fiddle with finicky computer software, so I thought this Crosley Songwriter might do the trick. The good news: the ...

cr248

by   erinlisa ,  Jun 1, 2007
Pros: nice looking furniture
Cons: Please- what would it have taken to have an average or better sounding audio device?
Review: I think someone had a great idea to simplify recording outdated media products simply to a cd. Why they used such mediocore components to produce such a low quality audio product is beyond ...

Crosley buyers; Next Time, Read the Epinions

by   db54 ,  Jun 18, 2007
Pros: Nice looking cabinet
Cons: Audio quality and just feels "chinzy"
The Bottom Line: Not an advisable purchase for $399.00 with the quality and suspect reliability.
Review: 11/23/07 Updt; after several weeks the other antenna finally arrived. It was identical to the one it came with and provided no improvement. During the wait tried the other components. The 33lp transfer to cd came out barely audio and the sound when ...

I thought I was the only one who bought a bad stereo.

by   milk41358 ,  Dec 21, 2007
Pros: It looks nice.
Cons: Wouldn't work properly. Marginal sound quality.
The Bottom Line: Don't buy it. It doesn't work properly.
Review: I thought I was the only one who bought a bad stereo. I loved how it looked, but it had problems so I returned it to Target for a refund. The record player worked o.k., but I could not get it to change functions. I had to keep turning it off and on ...

A Good Idea but Poor Workmanship.

by   pooterdunk ,  Nov 2, 2007
Pros: Excellent recording of vinyl records to CD. Can record to CD or CD-RW Media.
Cons: Cannot do MP3 format. Not compatible with Chromium Oxide or Metallic cassettes.
The Bottom Line: I don't believe this unit will hold up very well. You also need access to a computer to label your CD tracks and/or covert them to MP3's.
Review: I have a vast collection of vinyl LP's and 45's sitting around that I've been looking to transfer to MP3's on CD for quite sometime. Most standalone devices that do this are around $1,000. That's why I was so excited when I discovered the Crosley ...
