This was the first Dreamcast game I ever played, and I was instantly hooked. I played Crazy Taxi at a friend's house and the next day my Sig Other went out and bought a dreamcast and the game. So that must tell you something about how good this game is.
Basically what you do is drive around and pick up customers and bring them to where they want to go in a certain amount of time. You can play an arcade game, or a game in 3 min, 5 min or 10 minutes. In the arcade game you start off with about 60 seconds, and then each person you pick up will give you a little bit of time. Plus you get bonuses each time you bring someone to their destination quickly. So, theoretically, you could play the arcade mode all day.
The area that you drive around is very large, so there are tons of scenes to see. There are also some remote areas of town that you probably won't visit until you have gotten really good and can play for 20+ minutes at a time. Because of this the game doesn't get boring. There is almost always something you didn't see before.
They could add more characters to the game though. There are only four drivers you can choose to be, and about 15 characters that you drive around.
There are also a bunch of little games inside the game as well. They are called Crazy Box games. In these you have to do a specific task in a very short amount of time, usually. For example, bring 8 grandma's all to their destinations, bowling with your taxi, and jumping over the water.
The graphics are excellent, and the music is fun. I think there are songs from Offspring, Bad Religion and another punk band like them. Definitely well worth the money.
