Crash Bandicoot was the first game I bought when I first got my Playstation. In fact, it was the game that first interested me in buying the PSX. Crash was the first game of its kind on the PSX. The Crash series is one of my favorite because of the graphics, concept, and sheer fun factor of the games.
Crash one has great graphics, especially for one of the earliest Playstation games released. The sound effect and music of Crash are great too. The music really gives the gamer a feel for the environment. For example, in a jungle level, you may hear natives playing drums and chanting or something like that in the background. I also like the concept of Crash. The idea is that as you uncover more secrets, beat more levels, and find more items, you get a higher percentage. This percentage stands for how much of the game you have completed. This idea is similar to that of Donkey Kong Country.
The reason Crash was such an innovative and unique game when it came out was because it was the first platform game to support a mix of two and three dimensional environments. In some levels, Crash goes from left to right or vice versa. In other levels, he goes from the bottom of the screen to the top. I believe because of the great fun and concepts introduced in Crash, that Crash Bandicoot will go down in the gaming history books next to Mario and Sonic as Sony's mascot.
I give Crash a five. I suggest that if you don't buy this game, to at least give it a rental. It'll be well worth your time. I have found no significant flaws in Crash other than if you complete the ENTIRE game it may become boring. If you do do this, then I commend you for being an awesome gamer. I recommend Crash to all members of the family, because there's not any violence at all and even the oldest member can enjoy it.
