Author's Review
We purchased our cosco summit booster about 1 year ago for our then 1 1/2 year old son. We had shopped around for quite a while looking for a larger car seat for him with no luck. Our son is larger than the average child, so he didn't fit comfortably in the average size toddler car seat. We finally came across the summit booster seat in a baby department store, and we immediately knew we had found a good seat. The booster seat was wider than most other seats we had looked at, and it had a 100 pound weight limit instead of the average 80 pound limit of most other boosters. It was also inexpensive. We paid about $90 for ours, which seemed like a good deal for all of the extras the seat has. I really liked the idea of the open slots for the seat belt guide when used as a belt positioning booster. This allows for the seat belt to retract after your child leans forward so the seat belt stays tight instead of just hanging loosely. When we got it home, we checked how our children fit in it. The seat fit our 35 pound 1 1/2 year old perfectly. It also fit our 40 pound 4 year old very well. It was very simple to adjust for both children, which is a plus, because our children frequently stay with their grandparents who don't always put them in the right car seats. We had a hard time getting the seat installed tightly in our '96 dodge caravan, but with both my husband and I working together, we did finally get it in properly. We had no trouble at all installing it in our 2002 chrysler sebring or our '95 jeep cherokee. We have the LATCH system in our sebring, so it is extremely simple to put in that car. The seat is rather large, so we have some difficulty getting the kids in the seat when we have it in the car because we are always hitting their heads on the side of the car when we put them in. The seat sits higher than most, which makes it harder to put the kids in, but is great once they are in because they can see out of the car. Our son loves his seat. It fits him very well. We haven't had any problems at all with the straps twisting and it is easy to adjust the straps even with the child buckled in. The only problem we have had with the seat is with the harness clip. It is very easy to undo, and it didn't take my son long to figure that out. We are constantly having to rebuckle the harness clip, but other than that we love the seat. It is the only car seat I have ever bought that I have continued to love, even after having it for a year. I have purchased several car seats that I liked at first, but eventually end up hating because of problems with the fit in the car or the fit of the child. I also trust the cosco name. We have been in two roll-over accidents with both our children and both times they were buckled in cosco car seats and both times they walked away injury free without even a scratch. I would recommend this seat to anyone who only wants to buy one seat after their children have outgrown their infant carriers.
