Author's Review
Here I was at the gym, trying to do my 20 minutes on the bike. I decided to pick up a magazine to read and pass the time. From the cover, I knew I would like this magazine. It was called Cooking Light, but it had a picture of a hamburger and onion rings. They definitely were not eating the "light" food that I was.
I started the magazine, but where were the recipes? I had to thumb through about 40% of the magazine before I found my first recipe. Now the articles were interesting: workout programs, family vacations, etc. But, I was looking for those recipes. Then, I found the recipes.
Right away I was hooked. They have chocolate pie recipes, pasta recipes, all kinds of imaginable recipes. Each recipes even lists the calories, fat grams, protein, carbohydrates, in each serving. This was perfect for someone like me who wants to eat good food but is trying to watch what they eat.
I have always loved reading Southern Living and trying their recipes. But, if you are counting calories, these recipes are a much better reference. The directions for each recipe seemed easy to follow. But, I still can't get over a magazine called Cooking Light that did not start the recipes right away.
If you are looking for a magazine just full of recipes and nothing else, this magazine is not for you. However, it does have some tasty looking recipes that I plan to try, so next time I go to the store I will be picking up a copy of Cooking Light.
