A decent trimmer for the price

I bought this trimmer to keep facial hair down to a minimum because I hate shaving with a razor (skin irritations). It works well for that 5 o'clock shadow look if you don't use any attachments which is fine with me because it won't irritate my skin.

It's also small so I can throw it in my toiletry bag and take with me.

The problem is the battery standby life. This little thing needs to be kept on the charger constantly if you want it to trim at full speed. Even if it's taken off the charger and not used for 24 hours, the next time you use it you WILL notice a difference in the speed of the blades. This is unfortunate because the charger is too big to conveniently pack along. You will also notice the battery is low because it gets quieter. This thing makes quite a 'buzz' for such a small trimmer. My Mom used to cut my hair with an electric trimmer that plugged into the wall and I compared the two soundwise and the Conair cordless trimmer was much louder. In fact, whenever I use it, my roommates tease me and ask if I'm remodeling the bathroom because it sounds like a skillsaw. Of course that's an exaggeration, but the point being this trimmer isn't as quiet as higher end trimmers.

One last downfall is that you don't get much variety for facial hair lengths. I measured and the closest cut you can get with an attachment is about 1/4". That's longer than I want my facial hair to be as I prefer the close cut look like Luis Gonzales of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The longest it will cut is about 1" which doesn't make much sense because whenever I see guys with a beard over 1" long, they aren't too concerned about keeping it a uniform length. I think Conair should have focussed on lengths 1/8" thru about 5/8".

But for a price tag of $20, I can't complain.
