Stay away from the Comfort-Aire BHD-501!

Purchased from a local chain department store, the first unit lasted only a few months before failing (leaky compressor/condensor unit)...Heat Controller here in Michigan supposedly made the units...actually it's the Chinese LG company that makes this stuff! After an unbelievable amount of passing the buck, run-arounds, unreturned phone calls, two months of waiting for a replacement part (that may not have been the right part anyway) I finally convinced HCI to send me a new unit. That was last June. It's now October and, sure enough, the second unit has just ceased to function! So I call HCI (of course they pass the buck to LG), and to my surprise they will not warrant the second machine...they claim that they're reverting back to the original warranty of the first machine - now passed the one-year warranty period. That's enough for me....I'll not purchase any HCI/LG product ever again!
