Author's Review
Coin World by far is the best Numismatic Publication on the market today. I have been a collector for over 30 years and find this publication consistently meets my needs. The news coverage is outstanding, unbiased and informative. The publication can easily be read by a new collector, but is written in such a way that the advanced collector will enjoy it as well. The balance of news and informative articles is excellent. I am primarily a collector of US coins, but find it interesting to see and read articles on tokens, paper money, foreign coins, wooden nickels, ancients and many other numismatic related topics. I also like that there are articles on the current state of the numismatic marketplace. The newspaper also does not shy away from controversial topics on grading services, shenanigans at the American Numismatic Association, coin designs etc. This periodical has an excellent letters to the editor section which publishes the feelings and opinions of multiple sides to any coin issue.
Coin World is published weekly and each issue is over 100 pages full of informative pages as well as interested ads from major numismatic dealers around the country.
Each publication includes a state by state listing of coins shows, their times, number of dealer tables and location.
Recently Coin World dramatically changed its format by going to a new printer. The publication now looks more like a full color magazine rather than a newspaper. They also recently began to publish a separate coin values magazine which is sent monthly and included in some subscription options.
Another Numismatic publication worthy of consideration is Numismatic News. The subscription rate is a little cheaper, but I find the number of articles on a weekly basis to be less than Coin World.
So I encourage you if you are a coin collector to try a six month subscription to try it out. I suspect you will renew again and again for as long as you are a collector!
