Great for the gym

I started working out at the gym recently and wanted to pick up a cheap radio. The gym I'm at has numerous TV's and you pick up the sound for the TV by tuning into a specific frequency.

Now I didn't want to use a bulky walkman or CD-Man so I wanted something smaller. I looked at the headset radio things but found them too bulky and expensive.

Sony makes a couple small radios that come with armstraps which work well for working out. However they are really expensive for just a radio.

So in looking for radios I came across the CX-7. What a great little radio for the money. It looks good(looks like it cost a lot more then it did) and doesn't appear to be made of cheap materials. It is very small and lightweight so it's great for the gym. Even better it comes with a beltclip and a neckstrap. I don't always like having something on my belt because of the bouncing.

The sound is ok. It's a radio so what can you expect. Your not gonna get concert hall type sound from it.

My only real beef with it is the tuning dial. It's not very accurate. What I mean is that a local FM station tends to bleed over many frequencies on the dial. With my car radio the station basically appears on that frequency and that's it. This also makes it difficult to tune into weak signals as even a slight movement of the tuning wheel seems to jump several frequencies. It means you have to fiddle with it a bit to get it where you want but after that it's ok. Because of the bleeding it may not be the best if your somewhere that has 20 radio stations. There's only 5 or so around here so it's not too much of a problem.

But really for the money you can't go wrong. I got mine from J&R Music world. They seemed to be the cheapest(once you factor in their shipping. Other places have lower prices on the unit but much higher shipping).

Update: Have had them for a little while now. Still pleased with them. Battery life has been good. My wife's battery ran out for the first time the other day. My radio probably has at least 40hours on the set of batteries and it's still going.
