I've Been Framed!!

We are proud owners of 3 digital photo frames in our home. Two actually work. The third, which as we speak is being packaged up to be returned to wheretherefore it came, is a weak, unstable, COBY, to be exact, the DP-772 Digital Picture Frame.

It started off innocent enough. With each digital photo frame that I have thus far (more are on the way, especially after this is exchanged), I like to have "themes" with them. One for vacation photos, one for the kids, and this particular frame was for my wedding photos, that I painstakingly went through all the trouble of transferring with the photos to cds, and well, I will spare you the story.

I was so excited after I uploaded all of them to the elegant 7" LCD screen. While watching the memories of my June 93 wedding, I noticed that the pictures were not keeping up with the music, and they started to get "stuck" until they stopped moving all together. The frame is beautiful and the pictures are clear and gorgeous with a resolution of 480 X 234, but the mechanics need to go back to the drawing board. The pictures were not crowded or blurry, so the quality of display had no flaws. I have no idea why I am surprised, every COBY dvd player we have had has been garbage.

What was nice about this, is that if you are uploading images from your digital camera, you don't even need to plug this into your computer, your memory card (SD, Compact Flash, Multimedia card, etc) does all of the work after you put it in the slot. It allowed MP3, the sound was pretty good while it lasted, and it also allowed MP4 video and AVI files from your cameras. However, if the slideshows stop moving, the digital frame is useless. And this is what this is. Useless.

While it ran, the pictures were bright and the lighting was prime. I feel angry not just because I hate when things break on me, but also the work, and now the return. I expect products to do their job, at least within a 6 month time period at least!! There are enough digital frames on the market today to steer clear of this one!

If you do buy one, and do not get the jinxed version like us, you can hang it on the wall, or have it stand. The stand can be taken off easily or put back on. If you do not like the light frame, you can opt it to be black by changing the faceplate, which I wouldn't do because the black looks very plastic and cheap. The frame itself is light, and very fragile.

I am disapointed, and will not be giving this line a second chance. Purchase at your own risk!
