Still the best, forget the rest

My original 148 is fifteen years old-nothing but praise for its performance and never a repair! When i wanted an additional one, i was apprehensive because i heard they werent making them as good anymore. happily that doesnt appear to be the case. i have friends with expensive 'big radios' and i think they wasted their money. a 148gtl with a cobra power mike, properly peaked and tuned, and a quality antenna is the equal of any radio at twice the price . i park my car on hill when the skip is active and talk coast to coast and across the seas with a Wilson 1000 antenna. SSB performance is exceptional, audio quality is what you expect from Cobra.
