The Bottom Line: I feel the N.I.C.E. unit is a little over priced at $1,300 but for what it does, theres nothing else on the market that can touch it, yet.
The Clarion N.I.C.E. is a great way to enable your car to have a first rate Navigatonal/video/audio setup. As far as I can see, N.I.C.E. works flawlessly for a first generation all-in-one portable Navi unit. The 7" touch screen was superbly designed for viewing and accessing various modes. This unit really comes in handy for its navigational portability, meaning I use it in my car as well as in a rented car too. The voice guidance certainly helps out a great deal and is extremely accurate. I have this Unit paired with the ACCELEVISION DVD 9520A DVD/CD/VCD/MP3 PLAYER with built in tuner. Together this system is pretty good since I can enjoy TV, Movies, Music and great Navigation.
However I live in a high crime area and security is a major concern of mine and many others like me, thus I must never leave this N.I.C.E. unit in my car. The Designers over at clarion as yet have not designed a portable carkit that allows one to add or remove this unit quickly and painlessly from a vehicle. I drive a 2004 Acura TSX. My installer used a window suction device which I have mixed emotions about. For one thing the window suction setup draws unwanted attention to you when you are setting up or taking down the windshield configuration also it takes too long meaning manytimes you won't bother to enjoy it based on the setup, too much goes into setup. The other issue I have is that I cannot seem to load any JPGs nor MP3s to the unit. The encluded setup CD is completely useless. The owners manual unfortunately doesn't offer much instruction concerning how to load MP3 music files and JPG picture files and thats a real drag to me the power user type. My other concern is how will I update the Navigational program if the software CD isn't loading to my computer ?
Yet even with these drawbacks I am glad I bought this unit because over all its useful, helpful and also fun.
If you're looking for a reliable Navigation system thats expandable with a high resolution 7" screen with voice guidance, a 20 gigabite hard drive and other goodies in the package buy this first of its kind $1,300 unit you won't be disappointed it makes one desire to venture new locations.
