Citizen Steely Dan

I'd be lying if I said I didn't love this collection. I was prepared to pay $60 for it only it was out of stock at th etime. I then saw it in a record club flyer as another reviewer stated, it came in through the record club at about 1/3 the price. I literally got it for a song.

I had always been a fan of Steely Dan, mostly based on the top 40 stuff. I had heard some of the other tracks in various places, but never really owned many of the original albums. Thus in my case I wasn't rebuying a bunch of stuff I already had.

If you're a Dan fan, this is a must have. If not, you may want to sample some stuff first, or as in my case, get it for a song from a record club. BMG in my case. If you already have their entire collection it could be argued that you don't really need this one. It is nice to have it all together though.

Nit picks? Bodhisattva live could have been spared. Especially the introduction part. I didn't really like the Sax version of the FM track as well as the original guitar version. Thankfully I also have the Decade of Steely Dan CD which has that original cut.

Here lies the beauty of MP3's. You can rip the entire collection, throw in Two Against Nature, and even some of their solo stuff all on one CD full of MP3 files, throw it in a player, and go for a real long walk or a road trip in the car.
