Town & Country -Great way for couples to travel

We now have 30,000 miles on our Town and Country Chrysler 2003 Van and are still extremely pleased. We took a two month 9000 mile camping trip through Canada and the West from NJ and it performed perfectly. We did make sure we got it serviced along the way. Recently we did have to put on new front brakes, but that is the only money we have had to spend so far. We plan to take it on another long trip next year. Our gas mileage averages 21 to 29 miles per gallon on trips depending on the speed we maintain. That is without the back seats but loaded with camping gear and photographic equipment. We put 12 Contico plastic storage containers on the floor. We store everything in them, that is no suitcases etc. On top of the containers is a 4 inch Queen size mattress cut to conform to the van. We made no see em screens for the side doors and tailgate. Others campers constantly look at our setup and plan to copy our arrangement. My husband designed a fly attached to the roof rack which protects all openings at night. This is the greatest way for two retired grandparents to travel without a schedule. We plan to buy the latest version of this van as soon as we get up to about 100,000 miles which is what we got on our last van. Our daughter recently purchased a Honda Odyssey. We still like ours better and it seems that our gas mileage is just as good as hers is with all of Honda's new gadgets.

Now that we have driven 4000 miles in our new Chrysler Town & Country LX van, we are ready for a long trip. We have taken out the middle and back seats and plan to sleep on a 4 inch foam mattress whenever we cannot find good last minute accommodations. The ride is great and the seats comfortable. The van is so quiet. I recently drove an SUV and was shocked at the noise. Why would anyone want to put up with that? I can talk on my cell phone and no one knows I am even in a car.
