Author's Review
We bought the Town and Country after searching day and night mostly on-line, for 3 mos. and comparing prices and options with other minivans and SUV's. We were planning to start traveling with my 10 year old daughter, therefore the back seats had to be really comfortable and the view easy for a child. We started out looking at SUV's since they are so popular, but the lack of roominess was discouraging. We even considered a luxury car, as my husband didn't want to be seen driving a 'soccer mom' vehicle! I continued to push in the direction of a minivan and we drove every type that was rated high on epinions and even a few that weren't. The Chrysler Town and came out on top after comparison driving, without a doubt. We bought it in Sept. 2005, used from an individual with only 57,000 miles. In Nov. 2005, we took this long trip with our 10 yr. old daughter and never got tired of driving, even the long hauls between a couple of cities with 10 hrs. straight driving. Very comfortable ride and drive. The rear seats will lay down flat and with a sleeping bag, we were able to rest there and really stretch out. The luggage space in the back was better than most, although the rear seats don't go down into the floorboard like the newer models, therefore there is not as much luggage space. We took a month's worth of clothes - dress attire and casual - and had plenty of room for the 3 of us. The openness of being able to move from the front seat all the way to the back in the middle of the van is a plus, as I would go back to retrieve snacks or pillows, etc. as needed. The dual AC and Heat is wonderful for adjusting to different passenger needs. I lie it very warm to hot and my husband likes it cold. We were both able to ride very comfortably, along with the rear controls for our daughter, although the heat doesn't come out of the top vents, to my knowledge, in the back seat area. Also, the middle seats can be removed, but as a 'weak' woman, I had difficulty lifting them out. I would think this would be the case for most vans! There was not too much outside noise as we found in some vans and the standard radio system sounds great! I owned 2 Nissan Quest Minivans in the past and have ridden in several others, but none to compare to the luxury of this vehicle!
