Confessions of a Narnia Fanatic

by   carstairs38 ,  Dec 15, 2005
Pros: Everything
Cons: It ended
The Bottom Line: An epic movie based on a classic book. Worth every penny to see it multiple times.
Review: Ever since I first discovered Narnia in the third grade, I have loved this series of seven novels. While I have read through the series several times, this book remains my favorite and I have read it more then any other. Naturally, when I first heard ...

Narnia Comes Out of the Closet

by   WulfsDen ,  Jul 10, 2006
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
The Bottom Line: Brilliant adaptation of a brilliant book
Review: Many (many, many...) years ago, I was a 10-year-old attending school in Northern England. We were going to do a class reading, and the teacher picked 3 books for us to choose between. I thought The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe by C. S. Lewis ...

They aimed for greatness, and might have found it

by   dolphinboy ,  May 5, 2006
Pros: Special effects, acting, lushness
Cons: None that I see
The Bottom Line: Very well-done! Bravo!
Review: Story: During the bombing of London in World War Two, four children are sent out to the countryside, by their mother, to live with the Professor, on his vast estate. Bored, and having been told, by the strict housekeeper, to not bother the Professor, the ...

A Visual Splendour

by   jc_hall ,  Dec 15, 2005
Pros: visually splendid, with seamless CGI effects and faultless acting from perfectly cast actors; battle scene
Cons: have to wait for the next one
The Bottom Line: Faithful and visually splendid adaptation of a magical adventure full of wonder that will delight and entertain the whole family, from the youngest child to the most blasé adult
Review: When the four Pevensie siblings (Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy) are sent to the country to escape the bombing of war-torn London, little did they realise that they were about to be catapulted into an epic adventure in another dimension—-the strange ...

Narnia - the saga begins

by   sussmanbern ,  Oct 28, 2006
Pros: Must See! The definitive spectacular dramatization of the children's classic. Extremely high production values.
Cons: I'll have to get back to you on this.
The Bottom Line: A spectacular, superlative production of the famous children's classic.
Review: Disney's THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE is not to be confused with at least two previous films - one an American animated cartoon feature and the other a BBC production - of the same name. But, after all, the book is a ...

Narnia gets a magnificent new realization.

by   catu11us ,  Jan 8, 2006
Pros: A visually stunning presentation of the original novel; thankfully deloused of most "christian" irrelevancies.
Cons: Some tampering with the source.
The Bottom Line: The new Narnia film is great entertainment, if a bit too intense for the very young or very impressionable. It's a new celluloid classic and no doubt.
Review: While I might normally get into a plot synopsis at some point, C.S. Lewis’ first Narnia tale is one of those works of fantasy literature that is so well-known (or at least it should be) such an exercise would be unnecessary. Therefore, gentle ...

"The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" = A Very Good Film

by   basesurge ,  Jun 22, 2006
Pros: Decent, often good story. Top-flight SFX. Good performances from the cast.
Cons: The "="s. Weak extras. Allegorical moments may confuse.
The Bottom Line: Five star SFX and cast, shave off a quarter star or so for the allegorical distractions -- rounds up to a five star movie.
Review: The Chronicles of Narnia is the creation of Clive Staples (C.S.) Lewis. Lewis was a fervent Christian, returned to the fold through the intercession of his friend and fellow Oxford don J.R.R. Tolkien, of whom you may have heard. Emerging from the grey ...

The Chronicles of Narnia, an exciting and magical movie.

by   hawaiianstud ,  Apr 8, 2006
Pros: Everything about this movie captivated my attention the whole time. Acting, music, everything.
Cons: The witch could have been portrayed better.
The Bottom Line: Watch this movie! You will never regret it. I bought it the first day it came out. It's a must see, and has already become a classic in my book.
Review: Wow! What an incredible movie. The Chronicles of Narnia has become my most favorite movie. I can't say this about many movies, but this is one that I can watch over and over again without getting tired. While I was watching T.V. I saw this movie ...

Fantasy Becomes Reality

by   jackiechad ,  Jun 25, 2006
Pros: touching story, excellent adaptation
Cons: a few lacking moments in acting and CG
The Bottom Line: Worth seeing again and again
Review: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe is among my favorite movies of all time though that is due in part to a pre-existing bias. I’ve seen movies with better acting, I’ve seen better computer graphics, but few stories have meant as much to me as this one, ...

Narnia on the Big Screen

by   fubar69418 ,  Apr 6, 2006
Pros: Great Story, Nice Visuals, Good acting by adults and voice acting
Cons: Children's performance are adequate, bit to long for younger kids
The Bottom Line: Get it. It is a well done movie for a classic novel. Suitable for the entire family to watch.
Review: My first Naria experience was when I was 8 and sitting in my grandmother's living room watching the BBC version on channel 13. I do remember loving the movie and being awed by it. For reasons unknown to me, I never did pick up a copy of the book, ...
